Cardiff Blues welcome new director

Cardiff-born businessman Martyn Ryan has been voted on to the Blues’ board of directors.

An EGM of Cardiff RFC ltd shareholders on Wednesday evening voted to accept him.

He joined London Welsh in 1984 as a player, and has been involved there for nearly 30 years in various capacities. He is also a benefactor of Glamorgan County Cricket Club, chair of the Tom Maynard Trust and a trustee of rugby related charity Touraid, which helps disadvantaged children overseas through the sport.

Speaking of joining the board he said: “I’m looking forward to meeting up with the board and am delighted to be involved with Cardiff Blues and Cardiff RFC.

“This is a personal investment and I’m pleased to be able to put something back into rugby in my home town.”

His home club is Old Penarthians, and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants having qualified with PwC (then Coopers & Lybrand) in 1984.
