Pacemakers Tondu maintained their unbeaten start to the
season with a hard fought 20-15 win at Skewen.
Matthew Vaughan crossed twice
for the Waterwheelers before the break with Paul Smithson converting both.
The hosts hit back
after the interval with Phil Hughes adding to Matthew Myatt’s first half touchdown,
while outside half Anthony Buselli fired home a penalty to go with his earlier
conversion. However, the visitors and Smithson weren’t going to let their 100%
record go and turned pressure into points with two penalties.
Cwmllynfell moved up to second thanks to their narrow 14-11 triumph
at Glynneath. The visitors were 8-5 down at the break, but three second half
Peter Thomas penalties ensured they edged to victory.
There was a try fest at Llangennech as they saw off Kidwelly
38-22. The hosts outscored their rivals five tries to three with Matthew Bowen
and Matthew Lemon both claiming braces, while Ryan Thomas also crossed the
whitewash.
Kidwelly ultimately left the day empty handed, despite having
much of the play and scoring three tries of their own through Dafydd Lewis,
Aled Warren and Gareth Rees.
Aberavon Quinns remain rooted to the bottom of the table
despite claiming their first point of the season, as they slipped to a 20-18
home loss to Ammanford. Quinns looked on course to secure their maiden victory
as they started strongly through Mike Parfitt touchdown and were also awarded a
penalty try which Joe Gallivant converted to add to an earlier penalty.
However, Ammanford
hit back with Carwyn Richards amassing 13 points through a try, conversion and
two penalties, as well as a try from Chris Moore, who also converted his own
touchdown. Quinns could only manage a second half Gallivant penalty.
Elsewhere, the boot of Matthew Tossell guided Kenfig Hill to
a 29-16 success at Loughor. Tila Maffi and Matthew Davis crossed for the Mules,
while Tossell picked up 19 points through four penalties, two conversions and a
drop goal. The Blues’ only try of the match came through Joe Thompson, with
Chris Banfield kicking 11 points.
Finally, two second half Lee Evans penalties gave Waunarlwydd
a 21-20 victory at Carmarthen Athletic.
