Props signed by Scorpions for 2013

South Wales Scorpions have secured two further re-signings for the 2013 season in young Welsh props Joe Burke and Rhys Davies.

Burke, who is in the Wales training squad to face France and England later this month, has played in all three seasons with the Scorpions becoming only the third player to make 50 appearances for the club.

Davies only joined the Scorpions this year after being picked up from local side Bonymaen Broncos. He impressed Scorpions coach Dave Clark following his appearances for Wales Dragonhearts this year.

Clark said: “We’re delighted that both Joe and Rhys have committed to 2013 with the Scorpions. Joe won two awards at our recent end of season presentation night and they were well deserved. He will be a valuable part of our pack for 2013 and we wish him well in the Wales games this month.

“Rhys has made just a couple of appearances for us so far but he has showed massive potential despite picking up an injury not long after he joined us. With a solid pre-season behind him, he will be ready to compete in 2013 and will be challenging hard to partner Joe in our front row forward line.

“We are continuing to talk with players and it won’t be long before we have more announced. We will certainly have a strong and committed line-up by the time December comes around.”
