Mochdre close gap on leaders

Highflying Mochdre’s clash at Bangor was the only match to survive the rain in the North Wales Premier Division, and the title contender made sure they capitalised with an emphatic 88 run victory.
The visitors were put in and posted 154 in 49 overs. Joe Chaplin was their stand out performer with the willow striking a high calibre 42, while captain Adam Campion notched up 26. Chris Jones and Simon Murley picked up three wickets apiece for the hosts.
Bangor’s batting order was no match for the pace and precision of the Mochdre attack as they were skittled for just 66. Marcus Adams was the pick of the bowlers capturing 4-20, while Campion continued to lead by example as he collected 2-12. David Winter’s 23 was the only highlight of the innings for the hosts.
Leaders Llanrwst maintained their grip at the summit of Division One with a hardfought three wicket home triumph over promotion hopefuls Pwllheli.
Pwllheli batted first and set a target of 150 with Nadeem Rehman top scoring with 38, but the innings belonged to Alwyn Williams, who tore through the batting order single-handedly to take 7-40.
The pacemakers' Tim Cummins was their star with the bat after the leaders lost a couple of early wickets but the third man in stepped up and smashed a superb 84 to lead them to victory as they finished on 151-7.
Highfliers Hawarden Park remain in the hunt at the top of the table courtesy of a classy nine wicket home triumph over strugglers Bangor 2nds.
Bangor lost the toss and were put in with Campbell Marr 3-18 and skipper Ian Martin 3-21 posing the batting order serious problems with the ball. However, the visitors regrouped and set a respectable total of 102-9 in 52 overs, with Gareth Edwards their standout performer, notching up a gutsy 40 not out.
Hawarden in response comfortably chased down the runs for the loss of a solitary wicket, 103-1. James Hurlin provided the clout with the bat knocking an unbeaten 41, while Tom Ducker chipped in with a solid 28.
Meanwhile, Conwy bagged their fourth win with an emphatic 104 run triumph at Marchwiel and Wrexham.
The visitors batted first and declared on 183-6, Rajjenu Britto was their top scorer with 45 while Ed Favill notched up 30.
However, the real damage was done with the ball by Conwy with Hugh Kelly capturing 4-25, while Ioan Ceredig Williams and Daniel Davies each too two wickets apiece.
Elsewhere, in a highly entertaining encounter, Llandudno 2nd's came out on top against their Menai Bridge counterparts with a four wicket win, thanks to a sensational performance from all-rounder Jordan Kane, who captured three wickets and hit a sensational century.
Menai batted first and set a respectable target of 168-8, with Paul Jones (69) and Paul Oakes (63) both producing fine displays at the crease.
Llandudno 2nd's, led by Kane, chased down the total for the loss of six wickets, 170-6, with Kane smashing an unbeaten 102.
In the battle at the bottom of Division Two, it was Carmel and District that came out on top as they picked up a narrow one wicket victory at Rhewl.
The hosts were skittled for 76 with Mike Harrison capturing an incredible 5-13. Alex Gill was the best with the bat for Rhewl, knocking 32.
In reply, Carmel clinched the win by the skin of their teeth, 77-9, despite the best efforts of Chris Willsdon, 3-35, and Gill, 4-23.
