Wanderers on course for immediate return

Carmarthen Wanderers leapt to the top of Division Two of the South Wales Cricket Association with a resounding 109 run triumph over Briton Ferry Steel.
The Wanderers, who are aiming to make an immediate return to the top flight, were put in to bat and set a target of 243-4. Daniel Jones knocked 76, while Leighton Walters finished unbeaten on 51.
Steel had no answer at the crease, coming up against an inspired Ian Marsh, who carded remarkable figures of 3-5 from eleven overs, including six maidens, while Walters rounded off a good day's work capturing 3-21. Paul Evans was the only notable performer with the bat knocking 46.
Cowbridge remain level on points with the Wanderers at the top after they recorded a winning draw at home over newcomers Llandysul.
Captain Tom Merilaht lead from the front smashing 113, while Mike Lloyd knocked 59 as the hosts carded 269-4.
Llandysul’s Ben Edkins single handily kept his side ticking over, finishing unbeaten on 111, as the Carmarthenshire side look good value to cement their place in the higher division.
Aberdare climbed to third place thanks to a nine wicket thumping of Gorseinon, with all rounder Mike Roberts stealing the show.
The Swansea side won the toss and decided to bat but were dismissed for 128 in the 49th. Jamie Williams was the best with the bat hitting an undefeated 45, but the real star of the innings was Roberts, who captured 5-28.
In reply, Roberts was once again the stand out performer knocking an undefeated half century (73), as Aberdare cruised to victory carding 130-1.
Elsewhere, newly promoted Bronwydd continue to impress as they saw off Skewen by 39 runs.
The newcomers were put in and they made 125, Byron Jones (32) and John Thorley (27) were the picks with the bat. In attack, David Thomas took a four wicket haul and Mark Lewis mopped up the order capturing 3-8.
Skewen gave chase but were skittled for 86 in the 28th over thanks to some splendid bowling from Steven Williams, who was unrelenting as he claimed 6-18, while Tom Gleeson captured 3-13.
Finally, Morriston moved clear of the bottom tow with a winning draw at Llanelli.
