Laura's weekend predictions

Bargoed v Treorchy
Bargoed will be keen to cement their position at the top of One East and know that although they sit top, Ebbw Vale in second have a game in hand and so any slip-ups could prove decisive. Bargoed will also want to overturn their defeat at the Zebras' earlier in the season and the hosts come into the match high on confidence after their fantastic performance in securing victory over Premiership Aberavon in the Cup. Treorchy’s last outing was a narrow defeat to Tonmawr in the Cup and I think they will just come up short again Saturday.
Verdict- Bargoed by 7 points
Beddau v Tredegar
Beddau come into the match on a back of three straight victories in all competitions and comfortably beat Tredegar in the reverse. Tredegar meanwhile have only clinched one victory so far this season and I don’t see them adding to that at Mount Pleasant Park.
Verdict- Beddau by 15 points
Ebbw Vale v Newbridge
In the clash of the day, the Steelmen, aiming for consecutive league titles, welcome highflying Newbridge to Eugene Cross Park. Ebbw Vale will be eager to seek revenge, suffering one of their only two losses at Newbridge earlier in the season. The two sides will be high in confidence after picking up some great wins in the Cup, and Newbridge have rekindled their form after their mid season dip and, with Neil Burnett on target with the boot, they will certainly be targeting the double over their rivals.
Verdict-Ebbw Vale by 5 points
Glamorgan Wanderers v Gilfach Goch
The Wanderers have lost their last three matches on the trot but have started the second half of the season with much more purpose as they continue their rebuilding process before entering the National Championship next September. This will be the first meeting between these two sides this season as their first clash was abandoned. Gowch also go into the match on the back of losses, although they pushed both Bargoed and Ebbw Vale all the way in those fixtures and will be favourites to bag a win tomorrow.
Verdict- Gilfach Goch by 6 points
Mountain Ash v Blackwood
The Old Firm lost narrowly to Beddau in the Cup in their last outing and have put in some strong performances since the Christmas break. However, Blackwood convincingly won the encounter between these sides earlier in the season and come in to the match in good form having won their last two clashes, and confidence will be high in the visitors' changing room.
Verdict- Blackwood by 7 points
Rumney v Merthyr
Neither of these sides have had a great season with both outfits producing inconsistent displays on a regular basis. The Ironmen came out on top at the Wern but I think it will come down to which team turns up on Saturday and so, with home advantage, I think Rumney have to start as favourites.
Verdict –Rumney by 5 points
