Wanderers within touching distance of title

Champions elect Carmarthen Wanderers picked up their ninth win in Division Two after emphatically seeing off Bronwydd by 40 runs.
The Wanderers set a total of 184-8 in their allotted overs with Rhys Thomas, 35, and Alistair Chambers, 34 not out, the stars with the willow. Tom Gleeson picked up 4-42 for the hosts.
Bronwydd, who went into the match with an outside shot at promotion, were dismissed for 144 with Gareth Thomas the hero for the visitors capturing 5-32, while Dan Jones picked up 2-16.
Due to Bronwydd’s loss, Cowbridge have all but secured promotion after they bagged a winning draw at Skewen.
Cowbridge set a total of 269-7 with Mike Lloyd starring with the willow falling just short of a century (93), while Sam Wood struck a superb 70 and captain Tom Merilaht contributed 49.
Skewen in reply hung on to avoid defeat posting 197-9, but despite the best efforts of Merilaht, 2-47, Ryan Taylor, 2-67, and Aminudin Ramily, 2-45, they just couldn’t claim the final wicket needed. David Thomas was the hero for Skewen producing an unbeaten last stand of 59.
The result sees Cowbridge 56 points clear of third place Bronwydd with only two matches remaining.
Meanwhile, Aberdare have secured Division Two cricket again for next season after they produced the goods when called upon, seeing off relegation rivals Morriston by seven wickets.
Morriston could only post a measly 85 after coming up against an Aberdare attack in inspired form, Luke Garthwaite claimed 5-40, while Geoff Derrick collected 3-21 and Michael Wethersby took 2-18.
Aberdare in reply got the runs required in the 28th over carding 88-3, with Michael Roberts top scoring with 26 and Geraint Cutlan finishing on 19 not out.
Elsewhere, it’s a case of too little too late for already relegated Briton Ferry Steel after they picked up their maiden win with a 61 run victory over Gorseinon, and Llandysul claimed a winning draw at home over Llanelli.
