Laura's weekend predictions

Blackwood v Bargoed
Bargoed know that if they lose this match and Ebbw Vale bag a try bonus point win, the Steelmen will clinch the title. However, I think Bargoed will extend the title race with a comfortable win at Blackwood. Both sides will want to recover from disappointing results from last week and Bargoed, who know they now need a miracle to overturn Ebbw Vale’s lead on them, will be eager to distance themselves from the pack as they look to secure runners up position.
Verdict-Bargoed by 12 points
Merthyr v Beddau
The Ironmen were demolished last weekend and will be looking to restore some pride, whereas Beddau will be gunning for a top five finish after coming third last year. Having said that, Merthyr comprehensively won at Beddau earlier in the season, though I can’t see them bagging a double over their rivals.
Verdict-Beddau by 5 points
Mountain Ash v Glamorgan Wanderers
In the battle at the bottom, the Old Firm will be hoping for a repeat result of when these sides met back in November. The Wanderers have started to put a string of results together of late but are still suspect away from home. The Old Firm meanwhile will want to build on their dogged draw against Rumney next week and although there is no relegation this season, I'm sure the newcomers will be determined not to finish in the bottom two.
Verdict-Glamorgan Wanderers by 3 points
Newbridge v Gilfach Goch
Both sides still have the chance to bag the runners up spot but will have to wonder how strong a team Newbridge will field. With their Swalec Cup semi-final against Pontypridd a week later, will the Newbridge management risk picking up injuries to their key players? Gil, high in confidence, will be looking for their third victory on the bounce and with Newbridge having an eye on their Cup semi, I can only see one winner here.
Verdict-Gilfach Goch by 7 points
Rumney v Ebbw Vale
The Steelmen have brushed aside all that has been put before them of late and I don’t see Rumney putting up an end to that run. Again, as with Newbridge, they may field a weakened side with their semi against Cross Keys a week later, but I think they will still be too strong for Rumney as the visitors look to clinch back to back One East Championships.
 Verdict-Ebbw Vale by 15 points
