Swalec Cup Predictions

Bargoed v Blackwood
Highflying Bargoed comfortably came out on top in the same fixture and are on a four match winning streak, whereas their hosts haven’t played since 19th November and have lost the last five on the bounce.
Verdict- Bargoed by ten points
Beddau v Waunarlwydd
Beddau have had a mixed bag of results of late, although they did push One East pacemakers, Ebbw Vale, all the way in their last bout of league action. Waunarlwydd on the other hand have lost their last three on the bounce but did put together a Cup run last year, reaching the last 16.
Verdict- Beddau by 7 points
Gilfach Goch v Newbridge
Gowch are in a rich vein of form at the moment and are looking for their eighth straight victory. They narrowly defeated Newbridge a few weeks ago and have broken into the top three of the league for the first time this season at the expense of their opponents. Newbridge have had a reversal of fortunes, losing their last two matches, but surely the form they showed at the beginning of the season has to resurface at some point?
Verdict- Gilfach Goch by 7 points.
Narberth v Treorchy
The Otters have upped the ante in the last few weeks to swoop to the summit of One West and will pose a stern test to any visiting side. The Zebras have won back to back games in One East and have moved up to fifth in the Division, but they face a long trek west to meet a confident team.
Verdict- Narberth by 8 points
Tondu v Merthyr
One West new boys Tondu have only notched up three victories so far but have put in some big performances, belying their position in the table and the Waterwheelers must surely capitalise on home advantage if they are to progress. The Ironmen made it to the quarterfinals last year and will be looking to put together a similar Cup run this year but have lost the last three in the league.
Verdict- Merthyr by 5 points
Whitland v Carmarthen Athletic
Both teams will be desperate to put one over on each other in the West Wales local derby. The Borderers narrowly edged their rivals in the last encounter, 10-5, and another tightly-fought contest will be on the cards.
Verdict -Carmarthen Athletic by 3 points.
